DCLC: A place where the entire family comes to learn resulting in stronger families and a stronger community.
We now have 8 Title 1 schools with their own Family Support Specialists from our Center. Principals refer families with critical needs to them. Each Family Support Specialist works as an advocate to obtain immediately needed services. Then they assist individuals and families with setting goals to create greater family stability by using "The 5 Protective Factors", an evidence based method for creating real change.
1,575 Last year this many new coats, shoes, weekend food bags or other items were given to children in our district which helped them focus better on learning.
2,885 The number of services that our staff and volunteers provided last year for children and families in this school district. Services included therapy, math clubs, reading tutors, immunizations, English as a Second Language classes for children and adults, evening high school diploma/GED classes, citizenship classes, chess club, computer classes and Healthy Relations Classes, to name a few. Most services and classes are free or low-cost.
$61,279 DCLC recruited 433 volunteers who served 2,601 hours in our schools last year...a $61,279 value!
0 Our goal is 0 children in our district experiencing hunger, homelessness, abuse, neglect, or anything that will interfere with any child receiving an excellent education to prepare them for a beautiful life. We won't stop until this is the reality in all Davis County schools.
